This week I spent a lot of time digging into some more obscure black metal. There seems to be a lot of lesser know classics and awesome albums that I haven’t heard or even heard of the bands. This is why I love metal so much, there is always more great stuff to find. Some of the albums I have been jamming this week:
Another one of those folky atmospheric Black Metal bands I have such a weakness for. Similar to Oak Pantheon or Wodensthrone but just as captivating. Awesome cover art on this one as well.
I love this album. A lot of people only think of the Scandinavian region when it comes to black metal but there was a ton of other bands coming up around the same time. Root are Czech and there are some other awesome Czech black metal bands out there. I am not sure if it is proper to say a black metal band is swinging but some of these songs have a little bit of that. Corabeu – Part One gets a little doo woppy at the end. Awesome.
EEEEEEEEEEEVIL. The got away from the Black Metal roots on this one but kept some of the trappings. The last song “Eater of the Dead” gets the head banging every time.
The remastered special edition of this album is just awesome. This is a Death album I never gave much mind to but hearing it again it is really something to behold. I am not sure why I thought any Death album was any less than awesome.

Of course I saw Man of Steel this past weekend. Let’s just say it wasn’t for me. To help promote it though Comixology was holding a huge Superman sale and I got a bunch of Superman series I have been meaning to read. So far I have read Superman: For All Seasons, Secret Identity, Red Son and Kingdom Come. I purchased Birth Right but have not yet read it. This happened with Dark Knight Rises as well. I was underwhelmed with the movie and how the character was treated that I new there were better versions and better stories so I sought out other stories. These Superman comics are amazing and some of the best comics I have ever read. If you are interested in some great takes on Superman and the mythology check these out.
