I’m going to keep this brief this week because of time crunches. No rest for the wicked, so they say. Not much on the new release schedule this week but there were some goodies. The coming months will bring an onslaught of new releases so this week was a nice break which let me revisit some new stuff, brush up on old stuff and recommendations and discover some awesome bands.
New this week we got Me First and the Gimme Gimmes Are We Not Men? We Are Diva! which granted, isn’t metal but still put a smile on my face. Me First is a sort of punk rock supergroup dedicated to doing punked out covers of popular songs. Divas was the subject of this album. Funny as hell.
Devin Townsend’s Casualties of Cool came out this week after a successful crowd funding campaign. Devin Townsend makes music with complete creativity and freedom. He does whatever he wants and produces nothing short of amazing music. His creative output is staggering and while this new album (side project) veers towards country/blues, it’s completely Townsend with his soothing, etherial presence.
And lastly this week I got Castle’s Under Siege, a quick doom ladened, classic metal album. Awesome vocals and great songs.
