Creephouse Jams 12/6/2013

Greetings Creeps,

Sorry for not posting a play list last week.  It was Thanksgiving over here in the states and even the wicked need to rest.  That means that this weeks playlist is two weeks worth of pulse pounding, ear cracking metal!  The “Best of 2013” lists are starting to come out and there have been some great albums I’ve missed this year.  They are piling up and I’m trying to get through them all because I’ve started the epic task of trying to put together my best of list for the year.  It’s a huge task but a welcomed one.  This year there’ll be four lists.  Best of Metal, Best of Non Metal, Best Comics and Best Movies.  The music and comics ones are always the hardest.

Speaking of music, the new releases have sort of come to end for me for the rest of the year.  Nothing coming out in December is really interesting to me.  The last album I was waiting for was the new Artillery album Legion.  Pretty solid thrash album though they are leaning a bit more towards power metal with this one.  The big one I was waiting on in November was the new Germ album Grief.  I wish I could report it lived up to the amazing potential their previous EP had but alas, I cannot.  It’s still decent but I was expecting something way more.  Anyways, on to the playlist.

Gris – A l’ame Enflammee, l’ame Constellee

Crushing depressive black metal.  This album is epic in length and scope and is probably one of the better black metal releases of the year.

Ayreon – The Theory of Everything

This is a power metal album of epic proportions.  I know a lot of power metal is labeled as epic but not many get close to what is happening on this album.  Actually it’s a double album of crazy songs that reach as high as the sun and make you feel like you are soaring along with them.  Crazy.

Cannibal Corpse – The Bleeding

Cannibal Corpse – Kill

I recently watched a 5 hour documentary on Cannibal Corpse so I thought I would check out some of their more popular albums I hadn’t heard before.  I’m a casual fan of Cannibal Corpse.  Sometimes the mood strikes me to listen to them.  The documentary on youtube was pretty fascinating.  It’s hard to keep a band together as long as Cannibal Corpse has been around and this documentary shines some light on that.  Plus there is a lot of talk with the artist behind all of their famous artwork, Vince Locke.

Power Trip – Manifest Decimation

Some pretty excellent blackened thrash.  A late year find for me.  This is why I love all these year end best of lists.
