Greetings Creeps!

Man oh man this week was boiling over with awesome new releases.  Oranssi Pazuzu’s Valonielu and Red Fang’s Whales and Leeches crushed it and were easily my most listened to albums this week.  We also got new albums from Monster Magnet, Gehenna, Kroda, Calabrese, Wolfheart, Howling and two albums from Hank III.  And there are still a couple albums that haven’t dropped yet that I’m anticipating. Mostly the new Germ and Skeletonwitch.  I’m telling you people, give yourself over to the metal and never be disappointed with music again.  Or as Venom said “Lay down your souls to the gods rock ‘n roll!”

Frank Turner – Tape Deck Heart

Just listening to Frank Turner makes me smile.  He has a way with lyrics that is almost like having a conversation with somebody you’ve known for years and when he’s done you’re like, oh yeah that makes perfect sense.  There is a charm and a wit about his music and I feel like he has a perfect grasp on what happens when you are 32 and not satisfied with the world.  I could go on and on about him but if you like british folk singers with that punk rock background I think Frank Turner will take over your heart.

Type O Negative – Bloody Kisses

Few bands exude that fall to me like Type O Negative.  I have always casually liked them but this time of year is when I actually listen to them.  Their over the top gothy-ness is perfect for a sort of Halloween store take on the season and I think they are genuinely pretty humorous in nature.  Few other bands sound like Type O Negative and Bloody Kisses is a fine example of their sound.  Plus Black #1 is on this album.

Howling – Tear the Screams from Your Throa

Straight up old school death metal worship with lyrics focusing on the horrible and macbre.  Their second album this year and it hits just in time for Halloween.

Red Fang – Whales and Leeches

I think Red Fang may have topped their last album with this one.  Another highly anticipated album for me this year and again, AGAIN, the metal has not failed me.  Heavier, groovier, guitar-ier.  I hope they keep on this upward trajectory.
