The awesome new release train keeps on rolling and this week I finally got to here the new Watain album. That has pretty much consumed my ears for the later part of the week. The new releases may be slowing down a bit so as I type this I am taking a listening vacation to Sweden to listen to some great bands I love, overlooked or neglected so expect the Swedish Report next week.
I was anxiously awaiting this new one from Fleshgod Apocalypse. True to form, their symphonic form of brutal death metal pummeled my senses for the back to back spins of this album. I think it is on par with their last album if not a little better. Keep it up fellows.
I wish it were the fall. Bands like this just sound better in the fall. Sludgy, occult rock throw back bands are made for the fall. Maybe this is me trying to hurry the season along.
I thought I would jump into some of their back catalog. Intense, crushing, Polish blackened death metal. Overtly satanic, just the way you want stuff like this to be.
On of my most anticipated albums of the year. Is it the best album of the year? Not to me but it is a great album and stacks up well with Watain’s discography. The much dreaded “ballad” is actually one of my favorite songs and on the title track they get down into some serious Bathory worship. Another great album in a year that has already given us so many great albums.
