Creephouse Jams 06/20/2014

Greetings Creeps,

Sorry I missed last weeks update. I was hawking our goods at Denver Comic Con all weekend, so I’ll post TWO weeks worth of jams. Kind of busy this week so I’ll just give you the gist of everything.

The new releases were plentiful over the past two weeks. We are gearing up for some major releases so during these slower times I like to check out older stuff or missed recent albums. I’ve started a list of older stuff that I need to check out when things are slow. Anywho, new releases!  Vilkacis’s new album The Fever of War gets down and lo fi dirty. Considering this is the solo project from a member of Fell Voices, you probably have an idea of what this sounds like. Speticflesh show up again with their symphonic death metal sound with Titan. Speaking of death metal, Incantation is back with Dirges of Elysium. I could never get into these guys. I think I appreciate their influence more then the band itself. I kept hearing good things about the new self-titled Eyehategod album and figured I would give these old stalwarts a try. I really enjoyed this album. I think this stoner, doom genre is growing on me. Kvalvaag released some killer black metal with Noema and Origin released a decent tech death metal album with Omnipresent. I’m not a huge Mastodon fan but they always intrigue me. Their new album Once More ‘Round the Sun is less proggy and more straight forward then their previous releases but I enjoyed it over all. I like when they cut the fat and get right down to it. I took a shot on Vinterbris’s  Solace based on all the art done for it by Kim Holm and I wasn’t disappointed. Some good, atmospheric Norwegian black metal. Cauldron Black Ram’s Stalagmire is brutally amazing. This one just pounds your skull in. For the past couple days I’ve been obsessed with the new self-titled from Inaeris. This is black metal in the vein of Alcest with some later era Anathema thrown in for good measure. It’s beautiful. Aquilus released their Arbor EP digitally and even though it isn’t new, any chance I get to listen to this band is welcome. Neo classical, folk, black metal at it’s finest. Finally, the new Hank III album Ramblin’ Man came out. I was starting to think I liked the man Hank III more then his music. I always give his new stuff a shot but never get that much into it. This album is more to my liking. Maybe I’m missing something with him?
