Creephouse Jams 02/14/2012

By February 14, 2014 Kevins Posts

Greetings Creeps!

It’s Valentine’s day and what better way to celebrate then with a bunch of grimy, dirty, satanic, blistering metal topped of with some power metal soaring awesomeness?

Not much in the way of new releases this week. I did wrap my ears around the new Nightfell album The Living Ever Mourn, Barbarian Riot Sqaud’s short, dirty punk blast EP, the new Blut Aus Nord EP Debemur MoRti, and the new album Solens Vemod by Nasheim. Most of the week was spent revisiting a bunch of overlooked albums from last year, getting my power metal on and getting myself pumped up for the new Falls of Rauros/Panopticon split album by listening to some of their material for the one hundredth billionth time. I’m also still obsessed with Darkenhold’s Echoes from the Stone Keeper. On to the list!

Doug Paisley – Strong Feelings

Paisley is a new find for me. He’s writing some traditional and classic sounding folk/country songs full of all the heartache and melancholy I love from this genre. He sounds a little like a less worn out Johnny Cash but with a little more of a range. Good mood music and great song writing.

Sarke – Aruagint

Sarke, or one Nocturno Culto’s other projects outside of Darkthrone sort of flew under my radar last year. It’s a departure a bit for Nocturno from his Darkthrone stuff and I’m glad I gave it another shot. It won’t blow your mind but it will keep your foot tapping.

Nightfell – The Living Ever Mourn

Some grim and gritty blackened death metal. It has a bit of a crust flavor thrown into the mix. Solid stuff here.

Nasheim – Solens Vemod

Atmospheric black metal is killing it in the early parts of this year. Nasheim, a one man Swedish band seems to be going for broke here. This album is full of great riffs, transitions, movement and well, atmospherics. I’ve been thoroughly impressed with the new Woods of Desolation but this may be giving it a run for its money.

Wuthering Heights – To Travel for Evermore
