I am back this week with another playlist. Like I mentioned last week, I love to share with people and since I am practicly plugged into headphones all day I thought music would be a good topic to share. Music is one of my main inspirations in my work here down in the Creephouse basement.
I don’t usually go in for this progressive, sludgy, post whatever kind of metal but I gave this album a chance after reading nothing but praise for it over and over again. This hit a sweet spot for me and I have been jamming it a lot this past week.
My friend Ben pointed this towards me as a way to pass the time before the new Summoning album came out. Funny thing is now I listen to this more than the new Summoning, which is also pretty darn good.
It was Rollins week of at LA Weekly all this week so I thought I would pay my own tribute to the man and listen to my favorite album of his bands era.
This album seems to be considered the redheaded step child of their catalog. I am not sure if it is my favorite of their work (that would be a hard decision to make) but after re-listening to it after some time, it is just as incredible as the rest.
Just read a review of this and saw the names that the players in this band are from bands like Kvelertak, Enslaved, Gehenna and Aura Noir. Sold. Kind of a primitive throw back to natural or orthodox black metal. Crushing.
